Vision: "A Day with the Boom" is an opportunity for 9th-12th grade high school winds, percussion, and dance students to spend a day with the Boom. Students will gain firsthand insight into what it is like to become a member of the Sonic Boom of the South Marching Band. They will gain an opportunity to learn information about our University, network with students from around the country, and even perform music selections with the Marching Band at the close of the event. This event is a precursor for the JSU High School Summer Band & Dance Camp.

Time (tentative): 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Location: Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center (AAC)

Admission Fee: $25.00 (non-refundable)

(Fee includes- admission/meal/paraphernalia)

Registration Deadline: Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 5:00 PM CT

All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Students will not be allowed to participate in “A Day with the Boom” until all fees have been paid. If you choose not to participate at any point after the registration deadline, you will forfeit fees to the JSU Band Program.
Students must bring their own instruments. Instruments will not be provided by JSU Bands.
More detailed information will be shared after the deadline via email.
Large group participating: It is preferred that those bringing large groups sign each student up on this platform. If that is not possible, directors must provide a roster of students attending and their instrument to jsubands@jsums.edu. and copy courtney.l.lett@jsums.edu. The roster and payment must be received before the registration deadline (Mar. 31). Payments must be in the form of a cashier's check or money order made out to "JSUBANDS" and sent to: Attn. Large group travel: Those bringing large groups, please make every attempt to arrive on time. If you need an itinerary for your bus company, the arrival time should be 9a for registration and departure for 6p.
Students should wear their school paraphernalia.
