Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify at least three major qualitative themes that emerged from interviews and focus group data.
  • Describe three systemic barriers that impact Black fathers' ability to remain engaged in their children's lives.
  • Apply theoretical frameworks to interpret case narratives involving Black fathers.
  • Evaluate common deficit-based stereotypes about Black fatherhood.
  • Discuss three practice-informed strategies that social workers can implement when working with Black fathers and families.
